Harry Crawford (politician)

Harry T. Crawford, Jr. (born April 17, 1952) is currently running for State Senate in the new Senate district N. He was formerly a Democratic politician in the U.S. state of Alaska, serving as a member of the Alaska House of Representatives from 2001 to 2011. In 2000, on his second attempt for the seat, he defeated incumbent Ramona Barnes. Barnes had been the first female speaker of the House, and was previously defeated for renomination to her House seat in 1984 before regaining it 2 years later. In 2004, Crawford, along with Eric Croft and David Guttenberg, were sponsors of the failed ballot initiative to implement a gas reserves tax in Alaska.
In 2010, Crawford ran for Alaska's single at-large seat in the United States House of Representatives Crawford lost to Republican Don Young by a wide margin.〔(Election Night 2010: Incumbents Parnell and Young Re-Elected, Possibly Murkowski APRN 3-10-2010 )〕
